Introducing the World’s First-Ever Indie-Rock Cruise

At last, some plucky entrepreneur has applied the time-tested, terrifying formula of “musical act + crazed fans of that musical act + big ass boat = $$$$$” (see: Backstreet Boys Cruise, Kid Rock’s Chillin’ the Most Cruise 2010, Mayercraft Carrier 2) to indie rock.* On the last Friday of February 2011, the inaugural Bruise Cruise will take off from Florida and head to the Bahamas; onboard will be the Black Lips, Vivian Girls, Strange Boys, Thee Oh Sees, Ty Segall, Quintron and Miss Pussycat, Turbo Fruits, and, at least according to the press release, “water parks, spas, fine dining … open-bar cocktail parties and a soul dance-off with cash prizes.” Also, one would assume, lots of people drunkenly singing “I’m on a Boat.” See the promo video after the jump.

*If an indie-rock cruise has been attempted before and we’re just not aware, please do tell. (And Rocks Off is not, technically, a cruise).
