Lady Gaga Wants to Be a Latter-Day Bob Dylan, Basically

Sure, there’s a lot of smoke and mirrors and naked crowd-surfing surrounding Lady Gaga, but she’s also about music, too. She’s on the cover of fashion mag i-D this month, and she tells the title: “The new album is my absolute greatest work I’ve ever done, and I’m so excited about it. The message, the melodies, the direction, the meaning, what it will mean to my fans and what it will mean to me in my own life — it’s utter liberation. I’m on the quest to create the anthem for my generation for the next decade, so that’s what I’ve done.” When you think about it, though, lyrics like “Where are my keys? / I lost my phone” just might be generational anthems already.
