Hip-hop festival Rock the Bells returned this weekend in California, stopping in L.A. and San Francisco. Present (as you already know if you recall the fanfare over the initial announcement of the lineup) was one Miss Lauryn Hill, making her first U.S. comeback appearance after a summer of European warm-up gigs. It went well! According to bountiful YouTube evidence, Hill looked and sounded great, and was deliriously received, as she ran through standouts from The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and Fugees staples (see "Fugee La" and a particularly uproarious "Ready or Not" in the clip above). Also, says MTV: “This was not a woman who some reports had labeled "crazy." Lauryn was lucid and dancing and appeared to be enjoying herself.” There are two more dates for Rock the Bells, in New York and Washington, D.C., this weekend. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, let the speculation for a comeback album begin!
