Radio Exec Named Next ABC Family President

After Paul Lee left his post as president of ABC Family to move to the top job at ABC, the Walt Disney Company has now revealed that a radio executive (albeit, one with some television experience) will be taking Lee’s place. Michael Riley, who has spent the last two years running Radio Disney, will take the reins at the cable channel, a choice the Times calls “unusual” given his “limited experience in original programming” (Riley worked for TBS in Europe prior to joining Disney). Though considering his network's hit shows, perhaps more important than Riley's background is his familiarity with texting lingo. [Media Decoder/NYT]
