According to James Hibberd’s “two sources near the talks,” Steven Tyler has officially signed a deal to serve as a judge on American Idol’s next season. Hibberd says Tyler asked for “considerably less money” than Jennifer Lopez, who reportedly demanded $20 million, pricing herself out (Fox may or may not be negotiating now with Shania Twain to be judge No. 3, alongside Tyler and, presumably, Randy Jackson). If this means fewer off-key renditions of “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” on Idol, we’re all for it.
