Sufjan Stevens Is Flooding the Block

He just dropped a secret, long-ass EP, All Delighted People, but indie-rock heartthrob Sufjan Stevens has now announced the details for his proper new album. The Age of Adz (pronounced odds) will be out October 12 and, according to Stevens’s label Asthmatic Kitty, won’t be “built around any conceptual underpinning (no odes to states, astrology, or urban expressways)” but will feature “an extensive use of electronics (banjos and acoustic guitars give way to drum machines and analog synthesizers), and an obsession with cosmic fantasies (space, heaven, aliens, love).” So, is Stevens officially done with the album-for-every-state concept? If so, the odds of North Dakota ever getting an entire concept album dedicated to its local history and manifold charms continues to plummet. [Asthmatic Kitty via Consequence of Sound]
