out on the weekend

This Weekend’s Concerts, From St. Vincent to Rob Zombie

The temperatures finally cooled off this weekend, giving us the perfect weather to enjoy a busy lineup of outdoor shows. Gogol Bordello opened for Primus down at the Williamsburg Waterfront, St. Vincent hit Central Park, and Sonic Youth celebrated Brooklyn at Prospect Park. It was a big weekend for festivals, too. Levon Helm’s Ramble on the Road, joined by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, closed out the Newport Folk Festival in Rhode Island with Dylan’s “I Shall Be Released,” while Rob Zombie and Korn rocked out for the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival in Chicago. You couldn’t possibly have made it to everything this weekend, so click through for our recap, which also includes photos of Nas, Damien Marley, John Prine, Andrew Bird, St. Vincent, ? and the Mysterians, the Gories, and Sharon Jones.
