David Mitchell Misses the Man Booker Short List

The thirteen books in the running for the Man Booker prize have been whittled down to six: Peter Carey's Parrot and Olivier in America (should Carey win, it will be his third Booker), Emma Donoghue's Room, Damon Galgut's In a Strange Room, Howard Jacobson's The Finkler Question, Andrea Levy's The Long Song, and Tom McCarthy's C. Notably not making the short list is David Mitchell's The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet, an early favorite and the big, ambitious literary novel that arrived before Franzenmania set in.
