Malick’s Tree of Life Coming Next Year, Swears Fox Searchlight

Boom! Domestic rights for Terrence Malick's massively anticipated, long-delayed, Brad Pitt–starring, possibly dinosaur-featuring Tree of Life were just acquired by Fox Searchlight from River Road and it'll be released sometime in 2011. This means it's out of this year's Oscar race — but at least it exists and is likely in a state of near-completion! (Also, this means it won't be released by much-troubled Apparition Films.) Fox Searchlight bosses Stephen Gilula and Nancy Utley said in a statement: "Terrence Malick has crafted a deeply moving, keenly observed and magisterial film. Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and the entire cast’s performances are simply amazing. This is a signature film by a signature filmmaker." Looking forward to it.
