Jonathan Lethem Leaving Brooklyn

Brooklyn native Jonathan Lethem, whose best known (and best) novels have taken Brooklyn as their subject matter (Motherless Brooklyn, Fortress of Solitude) is moving to California. The author, who's leaving to teach creative writing at Pomona College, said at an event this past Wednesday: "I have been living, for the last three years, on the street I grew up on. It’s almost embarrassingly fetishistic." In retrospect, Chronic City really did read like the work of someone ready to get out of town. [Niteside/NBC, Brooklyn Paper]
