Robert Zemeckis Is Now Out of His Motion-Capture Phase

Now that Avatar has finally leaped over the uncanny valley of motion capture and made the filmmaking format hip and viable, you might think that longtime mo-cap devotee Robert Zemeckis would feel vindicated in his widely publicized decision to make those sort of movies for the rest of his career. Not quite, though: Deadline reports that the filmmaker (whose underperforming A Christmas Carol brought down his studio, ImageMovers Digital) has decided to make a return to live-action, and not only has Zemeckis thrown his name into the very crowded hat of directors angling for the Superman reboot gig, but he’s also picked up the time-travel spec script Timeless. We can safely assume Zemeckis was feeling just as nostalgic as you were this morning. [Deadline]
