Starz is sorting out what to do about the second season of Spartacus: Blood and Sand now that Andy Whitfield, who played Spartacus, has had to leave the show to be treated for Hodgkin’s disease. The network is considering four options: cancellation, delay, centering the show around another character (though this is relatively unlikely), or recasting the part of Spartacus altogether. The network has Whitfield’s permission to do so, but, for all the obvious reasons, it’s still a fraught option.
