‘Anarchical’ Cat in the Hat Hits the Small Screen

Do you miss your childhood? You’re in luck, then! The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That premieres tomorrow on PBS, and the science-focused series, the first television adaptation of the books, even has a stamp of approval from Theodor “Dr. Seuss” Geisel’s widow, Audrey, and his last editor, Kate Klimo. The two said PBS “got it right,” and they don’t like every Seuss adaptation, telling the Daily News that the Mike Myers movie “epitomizes the challenges in bringing a great book to the screen.” This description sounds pretty good, too: “Klimo admits the Cat can be ‘anarchical’ and likens him at times to ‘Fred Astaire on nitrous oxide.’” Well now we have plans for Labor Day morning.
