Robin Williams to Make Broadway Acting Debut in Bengal Tiger?

Moises Kaufman, who directed the L.A. production of Rajiv Joseph’s Iraq War play, Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo, says that the show’s producers are currently in negotiations for a Broadway transfer in the spring in which Robin Williams would play the titular tiger. Don’t worry, the tiger talks, delivering “comic commentary” during the early American invasion. Says Kaufman: “There is a great deal of intelligence and sarcasm and humor in that character, who has a bird’s eye view of us mortals … There is something about the keen intelligence and unblurry eye of the tiger that fits when I think of Robin.” The unspoken element here: If this succeeds, will doors suddenly start opening for Mrs. Doubtfire on Broadway?
