Shia LaBeouf May Not Play a Young Karl Rove, But Who Should?

If you had trouble wrapping your head around the idea that Shia LaBeouf wants to play a young Karl Rove in the hot dark comedy Young Republicans, here's something a little more palatable: Politico just sighted the actor highlighting passages from a Lee Atwater biography, suggesting LaBeouf might instead play that role (which the L.A. Times says is "the meatier of the two" in the film). If true, that leaves the part of Rove open to your fantasy casting; since the film centers on young Atwater mentoring young Rove in a college political contest, the filmmakers would need someone who can produce fireworks when paired with LaBeouf. May we suggest Frankie Muniz? [Politico via 24 Frames/LAT]
