Industry Roundup: Brad Pitt and Chilean Miners?

A Miner Role? A Chilean newspaper reports that Brad Pitt's Plan B productions is close to reaching a deal for the rights to the story of the trapped miners. It's for millions of dollars, and would leave the door open for several of the miners to act in the movie. A lawyer for the miners said his clients plan to create a holding company to distribute proceeds before signing any deal. [Wrap]

Bright and Early: Lizzy Caplan has signed on to guest star in Mr. Sunshine, the new ABC sitcom starring Matthew Perry and Alison Janney. Perry plays a "the sports arena manager for the Sunshine Center, a second-tier arena in San Diego," and Janney plays his boss. Caplan will play Janney's assistant, biding her time as she develops an HBO comedy with Adam McKay and Will Ferrell. [Deadline]

Shock Jock: The ESPN radio loudmouth host Colin Cowherd has signed a deal with CBS to turn his life story into a sitcom. His "life story" seems to involve working as a local TV sports anchor, then moving to ESPN. [HR]
