Industry Roundup: Ice Cube, Dirty Harry Wannabe?

Ice Cube, Making Your Day.

Dirty Cube: Ice Cube — the same Ice Cube who was once known for writing a song titled “F**k the Police” — may be teaming up with director David O. Russell to create a franchise that is “an homage to those 70s pictures like Dirty Harry and Death Wish.” Cube would “play a plainclothes detective who’s quick on the trigger in an R-rated raw drama that’s thematically a throwback.” [Deadline]

Deadline Casting: The upcoming HBO show Tilda, which will star Diane Keaton as a Nikki Finke–like Hollywood reporter, added on three new executive producers after losing its show-runner, Cindy Mort, in August. The trio is anchored by Six Feet Under alum Alan Poul. Keaton will be joined on the show by Ellen Page and Jason Patric. [Deadline]

Great Power, Responsibility: Sally Field and Martin Sheen are separately in talks to play Peter Parker’s Aunt May and Uncle Ben in the 2012 movie reboot of Spider-Man. (Andrew Garfield has long been slated to play the lead.) Field is in early talks, while negotiations with Sheen are further along. [HR, HR]
