Industry Roundup: Pacino and Sarandon in Financial Thriller Arbitrage

Not your regular trader Joe.

Trade-offs: Al Pacino, Susan Sarandon, and Eva Green will star in the financial thriller Arbitrage. Director Nicholas Jarecki will start filming it early next year. Pacino will play a "hedge fund magnate who is in over his head and desperate to complete the sale of his trading empire to a major bank before his fraud is revealed. But an unexpected, bloody error forces him to turn to the most unlikely corner for help." [Variety]

Cogan's Hero?: Brad Pitt is in talks to star as the lead in Cogan's Trade, the upcoming film from director Andrew Dominik, who also directed Pitt in the 2007 The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford. In Cogan's, Pitt would "play Jackie Cogan, a professional enforcer who investigates a heist that takes place during a high stakes poker game held under the protection of the mob." [Deadline]

I Spy Old Spies: Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris, the writers of the Karate Kid sequel and the director Rob Cohen, who is working on the third xXx film, will team up to make a show for ABC about "a team of old-school CIA covert operatives (kick-ass soldier-spies) who won the Cold War in the Eighties but were then forced out due to budget-cuts in the early 1990s." The show is about their re-entry from the cold, as they are recruited by "the chief of the Special Activities Division, a go-getter young woman who is also the team leader's estranged daughter."
