Liam Neeson on His Hangover 2 Cameo: ‘Mel’s Cool About It’

Liam Neeson may be the only person on Earth who didn't hear about it immediately when Mel Gibson was dismissed from The Hangover 2, which made it a little bit awkward after he took over Gibson's cameo role. "I didn’t realize it at the time,” Neeson confessed to Access Hollywood (you'll just have to assume that Neeson's rep, Alan Nierob — who also reps Gibson — neglected to impart that bit of sorta-important news). Still, Neeson claims that he eventually called up Gibson and the two had a pleasant conversation: “I spoke to Mel. Mel’s cool about it. We’re all cool." At least it sounds like a less awkward phone call than the one Hangover 2 director Todd Phillips made firing Gibson, which he just recounted for the first time: "He certainly wasn't happy ... it was kind of a bummer."
