NBC Officially Orders the Bachelor-Survivor Reality Hybrid Love in the Wild

Just last month, Vulture broke the news that NBC was developing Love in the Wild, an adventure/dating reality show blending elements of Survivor and The Bachelor. (Teams of two potential lovebirds would be dropped in exotic locations, where they would compete and, hopefully, loudly make out.) We told you Peacock execs liked it so much that it could be one of their tentpoles for next summer, and now it looks like we were right: NBC has officially green-lit Love to series, ordering eight hour-long episodes for broadcast next summer. The one new element to this story: Love production company Endemol has tapped producer Tom Shelly to serve as showrunner of the series. Shelly cut his teeth in reality working as exec producer of Survivor during its early seasons, before moving on to work on relationship shows such as ABC’s Dating in the Dark and NBC’s The Baby Borrowers. Shelly seems almost genetically engineered to oversee Love.
