Warner Bros. Forced to Distribute Movie It Dumped

Is the “found footage” genre in trouble already? Though Paranormal Activity and its sequel were high earners, similar projects are shutting down as quickly as they sprung up. Just recently, Roland Emmerich scuttled his $5 million alien-invasion movie, and Heat Vision is reporting that Warner Bros. decided not to move forward with Dark Moon, a “found footage” space thriller that the studio deemed too similar to Timur Bekmambetov’s upcoming Apollo 18. Still, at least there’s a happy, awkward ending: Joel Silver’s Dark Castle decided to pick up the project instead, though his distribution deal is with WB, meaning the studio has to put out the movie anyway.
