Industry Roundup: Mila Kunis to Ted?

Wow.

Mila’s Next Move: Mila Kunis and Adam Scott are in negotiations to join the cast of Ted, a comedy being written and directed by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane (who already works with Kunis on Family Guy). Ted tells the story of a man who, as a young boy, wished that his teddy bear would come to life and be his best friend, as some people do. Now, 25 years later, the bear is still at his side, except the teddy’s devolved into a cursing, smoking delinquent, as some people do. The studio is in final negotiations with Mark Wahlberg to play the lead, and Kunis, whose star is on the rise after Black Swan and after taking the photo to your left, would play Wahlberg’s girlfriend. Nothing about this sounds anything but wonderful. [HR]

Young Actresses Compete for Plum Role: Snow White and the Huntsman — which might nab Charlize Theron as its Evil Queen — still needs a Snow White. Universal is reportedly leaning toward going with ‘“a relative unknown,” and the shortlist includes Riley Keough, Felicity Jones, Bella Heathcoat, and Alicia Vikander. Good luck to all. [HR]

Scorsese! De Niro! As suspected, Martin Scorsese will be working with Robert De Niro again, on the crime drama The Irishman, based on the novel I Heard You Paint Houses by Charles Brandt. The film centers on a union official turned hit man. Gangs of New York screenwriter Steve Zallian is penning the script, and it will start filming next year. [HR]

Mekhi’s Next Move: Mekhi Phifer is set to star opposite John Barrowman and Eve Myles in the upcoming season of sci-fi drama Torchwood on Starz. Phifer will play a CIA agent “with a lethal sense of humor.” [Deadline]

Head Trip: Neve Campbell, whom we’ve missed, is in negotiations to star in Roland Joffe’s Singularity, alongside Josh Hartnett. The drama takes place in 1778 and 2015, respectively. Hartnett plays two characters: an archeologist who falls into a coma, and a British captain in colonial India. Campbell would play Hartnett’s wife and fellow archeologist in 2015, who gets stuck in a sunken ship while trying to retrieve a ring. So. That’s Singularity. It’s like the The Fountain without any illusions of being smart. [HR]

Wet Ones: Jessica Chastain will star opposite Shia LaBeouf and Tom Hardy in The Wettest County, a drama about bootlegging siblings taking the law into their own hands in Prohibition-era Virginia. Chastain will play Hardy’s love interest, a big-city woman now living in a small town who at one time was mixed up with gangsters. Promising! [HR]

Status Quo: Jimmy Kimmel has signed a new two-year extension with ABC to continue as the host and executive producer of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, which will continue to air at 12:05 am. [Deadline]
