No Oscars for Black Swan, True Grit Scores

It seems like every year, a high-profile movie score is disqualified for some very particular reason. This year, we get a whole bunch that are out of the race before it's even begun: Black Swan and True Grit, for having scores "diluted by the use of tracked themes or other pre-existing music," and The Kids Are All Right and The Fighter for having scores "diminished in impact by the predominant use of songs." Damn, Academy, why do you hate songs/Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake so much? [Variety via Collider]
