Oprah Makes Last-Minute Moves Before the OWN Launch

The New York Post reports that Oprah Winfrey has hired executive Terry Wood away from CBS to come run OWN and then heavily insinuates that the move indicates Oprah’s not happy with the way her network is currently shaping up. Ominous quote from requisite anonymous insider: “One thing Oprah is not used to is low ratings.” (A rep for OWN says “nothing is in the works” in regards to Wood.) The Post also reports that OWN is now planning a high-profile morning talk show, to be produced by Mark Burnett; it will have four hosts, three female and one male, and two of those spots may be taken by Touched by an Angel actress (and Mark Burnett spouse) Roma Downey, and model and self-help author Kathy Freston. Exciting stuff! Update: A publicist for OWN has gotten in touch with Vulture to let us know that the news of Terry Wood’s hire is incorrect. [NYP]
