Polanski’s Ghost Writer Sweeps European Film Awards

At the European Film Academy Awards in Estonia, the European equivalent of the Oscars, Roman Polanski's political thriller The Ghost Writer took home six trophies, including Best European Film, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Actor for Ewan McGregor. Because of the warrant still out for his arrest on sex charges dating back to the seventies, Polanski accepted the awards live via Skype from his home in Paris. Meanwhile, Israeli anti-war film Lebanon took home two trophies, for Best Debut Feature and the Cinematographer Award. [Deadline, HR]
