Social Network Takes New York Critics’ Top Prize

When Mark Zuckerberg kept hitting “refresh” at the end of The Social Network, maybe he was just trying to keep current with his film’s awards tally: The New York Film Critics’ Circle just awarded Network its Best Film prize, just like the organization’s critical brethren in Los Angeles and Boston. Meanwhile, the SoCal sunniness of The Kids Are All Right found favor on the East Coast, with awards for Annette Bening, Mark Ruffalo, and the screenplay, and Colin Firth picked up an award for The King’s Speech, in case you still want to make a futile case that his film could beat Network at the Oscars (or has The Fighter already supplanted that slot?).
