Television Commercials Will Now Be Quieter

The House passed a bill on Thursday that would prevent advertisers from abruptly raising the volume to catch the attention of viewers. The bill’s House sponsor, California representative Anna Eshoo, said it was her own “earsplitting experiences” that got her involved, recalling how ads “blew out of the house” when she watched television growing up. This is heroic, though TV with no commercials at all is still the quietest option. [AP via MSNBC]
