The Justin Bieber Riot Tour Hits Home

Yes, this is the day’s second Bieber-featuring post, but that’s with good reason. And that reason is: Like a belated Christmas gift from the pop-culture gods, Justin Bieber’s sadly dormant riot-incitement tradition roared back to life over the weekend, in glorious fashion.

While in his hometown of Stratford, Ontario, for the holidays (meaning Boxing Day, of course), JB hit the Fairview Park Mall for some light sunglasses shopping — and then shit got really real. The Waterloo Region Record quotes witness Taylor Inder, who says, “There were vases being broken, and people climbing over other people and a lot of screaming. [It was] chaos … screaming, screaming and more screaming.” Vases! Young Rylee Ellis was lucky enough to have been at the mall that day as well, and she says: “There was just a huge crowd, but I went through the whole crowd and I got to the front and he was just trying on sunglasses and — I don’t know, I’m in shock … It was something I’m never going to forget.” Indeed, Rylee Ellis. Fairview Park Mall Sunglass Hut manager Sarah Pelletier was a bit more nonchalant about the whole proceeding, telling the Record she got advanced notice that Bieber would be stopping by, and “thought, ‘my God it’s a 16-year-old boy who’s shopping — what’s the big deal here?’” Fool.
