Alexander Payne Is Making Another Road-Trip Movie

Alexander Payne took a hiatus from filmmaking after the 2004 release of Sideways, but suddenly, he's got one film already shot and another almost ready to go (just call it the Terrence Malick approach to work). After finishing work on the George Clooney vehicle The Descendants, Payne is preparing to make his next film, Nebraska, about an alcoholic who drives from Montana to Nebraska with his skeptical twentysomething son in the hopes of cashing a fake Publisher's Clearing House check. (Alcohol, Midwestern locales, and a road trip? Yes, that sounds like an Alexander Payne movie.) The Playlist says shooting will start this summer. [Playlist/Indiewire]
