John Woo Remakes John Woo

Movies get remade all the time, but less often do directors bother to remake their own flicks. Yet that's exactly what John Woo is doing with his 1989 film The Killer. In English! And 3-D! Woo is producing — not directing — this time: John H. Lee will direct, and Reign of Assassins actor Jung Woo-Sung will star. "While all my films are special to me, The Killer is truly one of my favorites," said Woo. "We are thrilled to reinvent it as an English-language film." The original was filmed in Hong Kong and shot in Cantonese and Mandarin. The remake will be set in present day, and is about an elite assassin who "risks everything to protect a beautiful singer that he unintentionally blinded, but can only do so with the help of an LAPD detective who is trying to catch him."
