King’s Speech Nominated for Fourteen BAFTAs

The King's Speech may not have cleaned up at the Golden Globes, but, unsurprisingly, it's been nominated for fourteen BAFTAs, more than any other film. Black Swan also did well, getting nominated twelve times by the British Academy. 127 Hours was not nominated for Best Picture, thought it was nominated for "Best British Film" (alongside The King's Speech, which was nominated in both categories). Javier Bardem, Noomi Rapace, and Pete Postlethwaite joined most of the Oscar front-runners (Portman, Benning, Firth) in the acting categories, though Amy Adams, not Melissa Leo, was the only The Fighter actress to receive a Best Supporting nod. Guess Helena Bonham Carter's feelings about Leo are shared by her countrymen as well. [Pop Eater]
