Now There’s an Awards Show for Comedy


MTV networks is creating a new awards show. The Comedy Awards will honor "the year's best comedy films, television series and digital content" and cash in on the fact that comedians tend to give good acceptance speeches. Nominees will be selected by a board of directors that includes Billy Crystal, Will Ferrell, Whoopi Goldberg, Seth MacFarlane, Adam McKay, and Ray Romano, among others.The inaugural broadcast will air on Sunday April 10 (and be filmed on March 26). It should be hard to miss, as it will be showing simultaneously on Comedy Central, Spike TV, TV Land, VH1, and Nick at Nite. Finally, Les Grossman will have a natural home. [Deadline]
