Once to Hit Broadway this Fall

Long in the works, a stage adaptation of John Carney’s critically lauded, Oscar-winning Once is officially headed for a fall opening on Broadway, producers announced Monday. Irish playwright Enda Walsh and Scottish director John Tiffany will collaborate on the play, which will also feature music by Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, the couple that starred in the film and has since broken up. Casting is still to be announced, and there is heavy speculation about it. To stay true to the source, Irgova needs to be played by someone subtle, endearing, and vaguely indie … Greta Gerwig? Scarlett Johansson? Or can Lena Dunham sing? [Variety, ArtsBeat/NYT]
