Oprah’s OWN Has First Series Casualty

They can't all be Dr. Phil: The Oprah Winfrey Network has canceled a daytime talk show that was in development for the network. The show was to feature a panel of talking heads, similar to The View or The Talk. "We had to be really smart about what goes on the air and when," said network head Christina Norman. This isn't the first bump in the road: OWN decided to postpone launching Finding Sarah — a reality show featuring former Duchess of York Sarah Ferguson — to make it more hard-hitting and less, uh, boring. OWN debuted on January 1 to around 1 million viewers, but has steadily lost viewers since. The network currently has around 40 shows in development — including a new home-design show (Home Takeover with Simon and Tomas) and Our America with Lisa Ling. [Variety]
