Three More Sundance Movies Get Sold

A number of deals went down at Sundance yesterday: The Weinstein Company bought The Details, starring Spider-Man co-stars Tobey Maguire and Elizabeth Banks as an unhappily married couple dealing with a raccoon infestation and cat lady neighbor Laura Linney, for $7.5 million. Sony Pictures Classic purchased The Guard, a dark comedy in which Don Cheadle and Brendan Gleeson take on drug smugglers, for $1 million. And Fox Searchlight nabbed the sci-fi drama Another Earth, about a woman who sees a new planet, causes the death of a family in a car accident, and starts a relationship with the surviving father, with the aforementioned planet remaining important throughout the film.
