It was filmed back in September for maximum secrecy (and broken exclusively by Vulture a week ago), but Ricky Gervais’s cameo on the The Office finally aired at the top of tonight’s episode. Reprising his role as David Brent from the original U.K. version of the series, Gervais bumped into Steve Carell’s Michael Scott on his way out of an elevator and the two soon found they had the sort of shared sense of humor that could only result from one of them being based on the other. Not quite as lacerating as Gervais’s infamous Golden Globes stint, though he certainly won’t be hosting any Asian awards ceremonies after Brent’s behavior in this clip. Enjoy!
