Behold: The Strokes’ Album Cover

The hype campaign rolls on! The Internet is still reacting to “Under Cover of Darkness,” the first single from Angles, the highly anticipated, possibly returning-to-form fourth album from the Strokes. But now we have another bit of material to obsess over: Angles’s M.C. Escher–esque cover art, featuring a messed-up staircase laid over what appear to be kitchen tiles. What does it mean? What does it mean? And is it necessarily an improvement over this crazy fake cover Julian Casablancas tweeted?
