Blue Valentine Director Tried to Play Matchmaker for Ryan Gosling, Michelle Williams

For his naturalistic portrait of a married couple falling apart, Blue Valentine director Derek Cianfrance asked stars Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams to move into their characters' house for a month, where they slept, fought, and took their onscreen daughter to the park. Still, if Cianfrance had really had his way, that attempt to build intimacy would have gone even further. According to HuffPo's Katy Hall, who interviewed the director, "One night he told Gosling to go into Williams' bedroom and try to make love to her. Gosling, soundly rejected, ended up sleeping on the couch." Sadly, the Gos didn't have Harvey Weinstein available to appeal his case back then. [HuffPo]
