Bryan Singer’s been attached to direct the fantasy fable Jack the Giant Killer since 2009, but perpetual delays in shooting — as well as a brief flirtation with directing X-Men: First Class, which he ended up producing — kept him from actually casting it. Now that shooting is imminent, though, Singer has finally found his beanstalk climber: Nicholas Hoult, who plays the young Beast in First Class (though you may know him as the kid from About a Boy, the lead on the original British series of Skins, or the twink who charmed Colin Firth in A Single Man).
