Iron Man 3 Sets Shane Black to Direct

By

Since Vulture exclusively reported back in December that Jon Favreau was leaving the Iron Man franchise, Marvel began searching for another director who could fill his shoes for Iron Man 3 (and make the movie's already announced May 3, 2013 release date). Deadline reports that after a round of successful meetings, Shane Black is now in negotiations for the gig; he's primarily known for his high-octane screenwriting work on Lethal Weapon, The Last Boy Scout, and Last Action Hero, but for his 2005 directorial debut Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, Black cast Iron Man star Robert Downey Jr. and helped resurrect the actor's career. In any case, if it wasn't already apparent, this movie will have many explosions. [Deadline]
