Here’s some footage of an unfortunate camel in Madison, Wisconsin, apparently there as part of a bit involving John Oliver for The Daily Show. It looks like things didn’t quite go as planned, as over a series of short videos we see the poor animal get its leg caught in a metal barricade, eventually requiring firefighters to free it.
As for what they’re doing, the joke here is pretty clear. Stewart spent a good amount of time on last night’s show pointing out the absurdity of comparing the protests in the Middle East to the protests in Madison, and I imagine Oliver riding into the thick of things on a camel, expressing solidarity with the union protesters, would be pretty amazing. Hopefully they got everything straightened out; keep a look out for it this week on the show.
