Spider-Man Spokesman Upset Over ‘UNCOOL’ Theater Reviews

Julie Taymor’s beleaguered but high-grossing Broadway production Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark kept pushing its official opening night back, intending to stall critics while the musical worked out its kinks, but now that those scribes (including our own Scott Brown) have shown up anyway and doled out mostly scathing reviews, Spidey’s crew is on the defensive. “The PILE-ON by the critics was ridiculous and uncalled for,” show spokesman Rick Miramontez told EW, angry that reviews weren’t held until the production’s tenuous premiere date, March 15. “Their actions are unprecedented and UNCOOL!” You hear that, critics? A century of chill vibes, ruined! [PopWatch/EW]
