Superman’s Female Lead Won’t Be American, Either

And here we thought that the American superhero drought was restricted to the men who played them. Variety says that now that the British Henry Cavill is set for the title role in Zack Snyder's Superman, producers are casting the female lead — and the character won't be Lois Lane. Three women are topping the shortlist for the role: British actresses Alice Eve (She's Out of My League) and Rosamund Pike (An Education), as well as German Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds). Still, U.S. ingenues shouldn't fret, since last year, Marc Webb had a Gwen Stacy shortlist for Spider-Man that was filled with foreign actresses like Teresa Palmer, Imogen Poots, Lily Collins, and Ophelia Lovibond, yet it was the very American Emma Stone who ended up with the role in the end.
