William Shatner Is Making a Space-Themed Metal Album With Brian May and Bootsy Collins

William Shatner is in the studio right now working on a concept covers album with a loose space theme, and Brian May, Bootsy Collins, Peter Frampton, Zakk Wylde, Yes’s Steve Howe, and Deep Purple’s Ian Paice are all in various stages of commitment to participate. May, specifically, would be playing on a cover of “Bohemian Rhapsody.” West Coast Sound reports: “Our sources in the studio today said it was ‘too early to confirm a lot of the artists and songs’ but that ‘what’s been recorded so far is fucking amazing, he is fucking amazing.’ Maybe we’re just feeling down today, but this one’s coming off a bit overcontrived, no? At least he’s not rapping. [WCS via A.V. Club]
