Angela Bassett is set to star in the new ABC pilot Identity, written by John Glenn. Identity centers on an elite police unit formed to fight identity-based crimes. Bassett will play a special agent in charge of the unit. Earlier in the pilot-casting season, Bassett was attached to the drama One Police Plaza, where she would have again played a cop. The Oscar-nominated actress — for 1993’s What’s Love Got to Do With It? — hasn’t been on TV since she starred in the final season of ER in 2009. [Deadline]
