Ellen Barkin Joins Michael Patrick King’s NBC Pilot

Ellen Barkin is the latest actress to join this spring’s exodus of film stars to network TV. Vulture has confirmed that the star of movies such as Sea of Love and Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas will appear opposite Don Johnson in Michael Patrick King’s NBC pilot A. Mann’s World, and she’ll play Johnson’s ex-wife in the Shampoo-like dramedy. For now, the part is being described as a guest-starring stint, but there’s the potential for Barkin to recur or become a regular if the pilot gets picked up to series in May. While Barkin won an Emmy for her part in the Oprah Winfrey–produced mini-series Before Women Had Wings, Mann’s would be her first series gig (though in 2009, she was attached to an HBO series that never got past the development stage).
