‘Friday’ Mastermind Patrice Wilson Explains the Lyrics

The farther we get from the initial white-hot splash of fame of Rebecca Black's "Friday," the more Patrice Wilson — the Ark Music Factory CEO and the producer of the smash — is willing to reveal himself. He's followed up this creepy YouTube "interview" with an actual conversation with Gawker, and we learned some things. Most important, we learned that there is a perfectly sound reasoning for the line "Yesterday was Thursday / Today is Friday." And that reasoning is: "I wrote the lyrics on a Thursday night going into a Friday. I was writing different songs all night and was like, 'Wow, I've been up a long time and it's Friday.' And I was like, wow, it is Friday!" Yes it is Patrice — yes, it is. [Gawker]
