When actress T.V. Carpio stepped in to replace the injured Natalie Mendoza as Arachne in the trouble-plagued Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark, she played down the risk involved, saying, "I wouldn't say my role is the most dangerous role." Carpio may be rethinking that statement, as she herself is now out of the show for the next two to three weeks after suffering "whiplash" during a complicated battle scene. Then again, perhaps Carpio is just getting a head start on the inevitable, since rumors persist that the villainous Arachne — an invention of deposed director Julie Taymor — is going to be drastically downsized or cut altogether as the musical undergoes continued revisions.
