The Hunger Games Looking to Cast Starving Teenagers

The Wall Street Journal has a piece today about the ongoing attempts to cast the lead role of Katniss Everdeen in the forthcoming adaptation of The Hunger Games. In the books, Katniss is described as having olive skin, dark hair, and gray eyes: Fans have speculated that the part could be played by someone who's not white. Apparently, the moviemakers do not feel the same. Included in the article is the casting notice for the part: "She should be Caucasian, between ages 15 and 20, who could portray someone 'underfed but strong,' and 'naturally pretty underneath her tomboyishness.'" Stage parents of white girls willing to develop eating disorders, you know what to do! [WSJ via Movieline]
