For a working standup, getting gigs at colleges can be a real boon to the bottom line. After all, where else do you have thousands of 18 to 22 year olds packed into one space, each paying tens of thousands of dollars a year to be educated and entertained? But you know, those college kids can also be really lazy about promoting shows once they’ve booked them, as J Chris Newberg discovered at Cleveland State University. In the students’ defense, they do live in Cleveland. Cut them some slack!
